Safetypin Posestands: Manual

The safetypin posestands are named for their handy feature, the safetypin function. It was created by Tapple Gao on Second Life.

  • Ever created a nice mod but dreaded having to adjust it all over again once you wear it?
  • Ever been standing still on a posestand, adjusting your mod to be just right just to realize you had it on the wrong attachment point and now it looks broken when you move?
  • Ever wanted to rez an item to quickly mod it, but get disoriented because it is upside down when you rez it?

The safetypin remembers the position of an object and will do the job for you of positioning and adjusting things between rezzed, worn and even between attachment points. It uses the posestand as reference, so it is important to have a safetypin posestand that matches your avatar type.

Where do I find the Safetypin Posestands!

How to use the "safetypin"

The safetypin itself is a script included with the posestands. All you have to do is put it into the contents of the object you plan to adjust.

  1. Rez a Safetypin Posestand that matches your avatar type
  2. Edit the object you want to use the safetypin on
  3. Open the "content" tab while in edit
  4. Locate the "Safetypin (Drop me in objects)" script in your inventory
  5. Drag the script into the contents of your object (contents of the root prim if using "edit linked")
  6. Now you can rez/wear the object and it will take care of any repositioning that needs to be done

Specific ways to use the Safetypin Functions

Want to rez a worn object?
Drop the "safetypin (Drop me in objects)" script into the object while still wearing it. Then detach it and rez in-world, it shall reposition the object above the posestand to match it's position when worn.
Handy when you wish to quickly edit a worn object without being disoriented by it's orientation when you rez it.

Want to wear a rezzed object?
Drop the "safetypin (Drop me in objects)" script into the object before picking it up. Then proceed to adding it to your avatar. It will reposition the item to match it's position when it was rezzed.
Handy when you were adjusting things to fit your avatar on the posestand

Want to move the object between attachment points?
Drop the "safetypin (Drop me in objects)" script into the object while still wearing it. Then detach it and re-attach to the desired attachment point. The safetypin will reposition the object to be in the same position as previously.
Handy if you positioned an object perfectly but then realize it was on the wrong attachment point

How to remove the Safetypin?

When you have a safetypin in every worn item, it can be quite a hassle to be going through the contents of each and every one of them just to remove the scripts. Do not worry, there is a easy way to clear them away.

  • just write the following command into the local chat and the scripts will remove themselves from your items.

Credit goes to Tapple Gao (owner of "Tavatar") for creating the safetypin. Specially for making the seawolf avatars copmatible with the system because it is the only posestands I am aware of for these avatars.
You should look at the included manual though, this is just a simplified version that I created.
